Exciting news, two Pacific Islanders are receiving support to attend FOSS4G SotM Oceania:
The Pacific Maritime Boundaries Project has provided funding for two people from The Pacific Community to share their experiences working with Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G).
The project is part of an Australian Government commitment to assist Pacific Island Countries to develop, promulgate and declare their respective maritime boundaries to secure their maritime jurisdictional rights. The project staff use open source geospatial solutions throughout their daily work from data collection and analysis using QGIS, to data distribution via Geonode.
If you’d like to hear about the strengths and weaknesses of this approach, along with many related presentations, then do come along to the FOSS4G SotM Oceania conference this November.
We're working hard to find more support to bring people from across the region who otherwise might not be able to attend. You can help too, by contributing to our Good Mojo Program. See this page for more details.
