This is a call for interesting and diverse workshops and presentations for the joint Free Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) and State of the Map (SotM) Oceania Conference.
We are looking for presentations on practically any topic, but if you’re after a bit of guidance, we canvassed the community and the following graph shows what people are interested in.
How can I be involved?
There are several different ways to be involved, as follows:
-
Run a workshop: workshops run for half a day, and can cater to up to 20 people, although there’s some flexibility. To find out more, checkout the website here: https://foss4g-oceania.org/present/submit-workshop
-
Give a presentation: presentations are in three forms, lightning (very short), regular (turn up and present) and academic (write a paper and get it peer reviewed). You can find out more about presenting here.
-
Come along to the community day: there will be coding and mapping events running on the final day, and while the program hasn’t been decided, get in touch if you are keen to participate.
If you want to be involved, but need to ask a question, you can email us or reach out to one of the committee members directly. We are determined to do the best we can in terms of ensuring that everyone feels welcome, so if you want to present, and need support, we’re here to help with that too.
What’s next
Once we’ve received submissions, the community will vote for their favourite presentations, and the organising committee will put the program together based on your feedback.
If you’re super excited to attend (and who isn’t!), then you’ll be pleased to know that registration opens on the 25th of June, so you don’t have long to wait!
Thanks for being a part of this event.
