Exploring total water levels around Australia with R shiny and Leaflet

The contributions to Total Water Level (TWL) depend on where the water level is measured (Figure 1). In a harbour, tide gauge measurements of TWL, also referred to as Still Water Level (SWL) are comprised of astronomical tides, storm surges (stormtide) and other more slowly varying factors occurring on seasonal to centennial time-scales. On an ocean beach, TWL as measured by video cameras, can be described as the Shoreline Level (SLL).
In this talk a R-shiny app will be presented, which provides a clickable map to choose coastal locations around Australia linking to water level climate information. Discussion will be provided on experiences and lessons learnt.
